Perching on the edge of the Wattle track on Tiritiri Matangi Island a North Island Robin watches for insects that may be disturbed by a group of walkers as they pass by.. Though small in size Robins appear fearless of humans and at times will come to perch on ones boots if you remain motionless for a time when encountering them. The attraction is that they have come recognise humans as great disturbers of insects and the opportunity of getting an easy meal..Being a member of the Flycatcher family New Zealands North Island Robin is not related to the Robin Red breast of Europe.
