Situated on the eastern side of the North Islands Coromandel Peninsula, Pauanui is a purpose built retirement and holiday community on the southern side of theTairua Harbour that has its own airstrip, golf course and a recent waterways developement similar to the Gold Coast in Australia. Across the harbour on the main road north to Whitianga is the older township of Tairua and the prominent two peaked Paku Hill that gives views east to the Shoe and Aldermen Islands.
